Stuffed Animal and Water Puppetry Collection

Stuffed animals are a new development of Vietnamese handicrafts at Truc Lam Company. The designs are inspired by the costume of the H’Mong people in Sapa, the batik patterns of the H’Mong people from Hoa Binh Province and the patterns of the Thai people from Nghe An Province. Beside the stuffed animals, we also make decorative home goods that have traditional flairs and are highly adaptable for daily use.

Water puppetry is a unique form of Vietnamese folk theater that dates back as far as the 11th century when it originated in the villages along the Red River Delta area in Northern Vietnam. The art of water puppetry, which is rich in national cultural identity, has attracted a large number of audiences both domestically and internationally.

The water puppets are made from wood and then lacquered before being placed in the waist-deep water stage for performance. Through the skilled hands of the artisans, the monotonous pieces of wood are transformed into lively characters, each with its unique personality.

To contribute and honor the cultural and artistic value of water puppetry, as well as to create job opportunities for craftsmen in traditional craft villages, Truc Lam is collaborating with artisans to develop performance water puppets into display pieces that retain traditional beauty while incorporating a modern touch.
